Parent of Brazil's Gol airline nears order for Embraer E2 jets, Bloomberg reports

The parent company of Brazilian carrier Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes is close to finalising a deal to buy Embraer's E2 narrowbody jets, Bloomberg reported on 18 July. The prospective order would mark a fleet-renewal push for one of Latin America's largest airlines as it works through a post-bankruptcy restructuring.

Embraer's E2 family — the E190-E2, E195-E2 and E175-E2 — are re-engined, fuel-efficient narrowbodies that compete with Airbus's A220 and the Boeing 737 MAX in the small-to-mid-size segment. Brazil's Embraer is the world's third-largest commercial aircraft manufacturer behind Airbus and Boeing.
A new order from a major Brazilian operator would be a further vote of confidence in the E2 programme, which Embraer has been promoting to win market share as airlines seek to cut operating costs and emissions. Bloomberg did not disclose the size or value of the potential deal.
Gol, which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2024 and has been restructuring its balance sheet, has historically operated an all-Boeing 737 fleet; any shift toward Embraer would diversify its aircraft. The report underscores continued appetite for new-generation regional jets in fast-growing Latin American travel markets.
