The 24-year-old Italian dropped the opening set in a tiebreak but recovered to close out a three-hour, 46-minute contest on Centre Court, Wimbledon.com said. The victory gave Sinner his second consecutive Wimbledon crown and a fifth Grand Slam singles title, the ATP Tour reported.
Zverev, a two-time Grand Slam runner-up appearing in his first Wimbledon final, was denied a maiden major. Sinner reached the title match by beating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, while Zverev ended British wildcard Arthur Fery's run to the last four, the BBC reported.
The win consolidates Sinner's position as the sport's dominant figure heading into the North American hard-court season, which opens later this month with the Canadian Open.
