World No. 1 Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon title on Sunday, beating French Open champion Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 6-4 in the men's singles final on Centre Court, according to Sky Sports (https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/32498/13562802/wimbledon-world-no-1-jannik-sinner-grinds-down-alexander-zverev-to-successfully-defend-title-on-centre-court-at-all-england-club).
The victory gave the Italian his fifth Grand Slam crown and a 10th consecutive win over Zverev. It was also Sinner's 100th career match win at a major, and he became the 10th man in the professional era to retain the Wimbledon title, the broadcaster reported.
Sinner, 24, bounced back from a second-round exit at Roland-Garros, where he wilted in a Paris heatwave. "It's amazing," he said after the match. "To Alex — he got his first Grand Slam in Paris this year, and he was so, so close today."
The Prince and Princess of Wales, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, watched from the Royal Box.
The win strengthens Sinner's standing as one of the sport's dominant figures as he chases rival Carlos Alcaraz's haul of seven majors. In the women's draw, Noskova defeated Muchova to claim the title, according to Sky Sports.
