**BEIJING, Aug 25 (Source Reporters)** — A humanoid robot built by Beijing-based X-Humanoid ran 100 metres in 9.39 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games on Saturday, faster than Usain Bolt's human world record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009, according to event organisers and state media reports carried by Reuters and CBS/AP.
The sprint was run in a preliminary heat on the opening day of the second-year event, which features more than 2,000 humanoid robots competing in sports including running, table tennis and soccer. Footage showed robots slamming into cushions and falling to stop after finishing, with some carried off on stretchers.
A separate X-Humanoid robot also surpassed a long-standing human mark in the standing high jump, reaching 2.88 metres against the 2.45m record set by Cuba's Javier Sotomayor in 1993, organisers said.
